He swept the floor in despair
Never had he felt so alone
She was gone ,taken from him
Beneath his clutches
Sorrow replaced ,his heart swelled.
He could feel her hovering
His ear buzzed with hope
Something brushed his sleeve
Someone said 'Sleep'
But he couldn't ,he wouldn't
Not till she returned.
Diagnosed with cervical cancer
She was his life ,his own
Gone into the wind forever
He couldn't tolerate the emptiness;
He lived now for no-one
No-one by his bedside
No-one to kiss him good-bye
Shadows walked side-by-side,
Holding hands ,leaning close
Into the dark they disappeared;
Never to be seen again or heard.
